Robert Lee Chisholm, 78, of Charlotte, North Carolina, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 21, 2020, at his home after a long illness.
Robert was the seventh child born to the late Earl Arthur, Sr. and the late Alberta James Chisholm on March 29, 1942, in Charlotte, NC. He was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system and graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1959. He met and fell in love with Elizabeth Stradford and they were joined in holy matrimony in June of 1963. They were married for over 50 years.
Robert retired as a long-distance truck driver for the United Parcel Service Incorporated (UPS) after 30+ years of service. He was awarded for being a safe driver for 10 consecutive years.
As teens, Robert and his brothers worked as golf caddies near a local course. They unselfishly gave the money they earned to their parents to help support the large family. Rob would also save money to buy clothes and shoes. He was very stylish and was a dapper dresser. Robert’s experience as a caddy is where his immense love for golf emerged, and it became his favorite pastime. He was a long time member of the Par Buster Golf Group. He was considered to be a “stretch” golfer and played alongside notated individuals as the Mayor and the City Manager of his day. He had a strong-willed personality tempered with a profound love for his family.
He leaves to cherish his fond memory, his beloved son, Christopher (Chris) Stradford of Charlotte; a beloved niece and caregiver Patrice Frazier of Lancaster, SC: and a host of other in-laws, nieces; nephews cousins, and friends.
