Myrtis Williams Anderson gained her wings on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Wake Med-North in Raleigh, North Carolina; following a brief illness. Myrtis Williams Anderson was born July 7th, 1940, in Lincolnton, Georgia; the fourth child of the late Floyd and Jessie Maude Williams. Myrtis graduated from Lincoln County Training School in May 1959. Shortly after graduation, Myrtis decided to leave Lincolnton for the bright lights of Charlotte, North Carolina, living with cousins Pete and Lee Williams. In the Spring of 1960, while walking down Horne Drive in Historic Double Oaks, a precocious young man followed Myrtis home, offering her a ride home. This young man continued to do so every day for a week until Myrtis finally accepted. Three months after that first ride home, Myrtis married Joe James Anderson on July 31st, 1960, in York, South Carolina. Their union lasted 52 years and created 5 children. Myrtis became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in 1963 under the leadership of the late Dr. LD Parker. While a member of St. Luke Myrtis served the ministry as a member of the Senior Choir and Adult Missionary Group. Myrtis was a firm believer in Christian Education and faithfully attended Sunday School and Bible Study. Later, Myrtis moved her membership to Life Baptist Church where she served on the choir.
