Kevin Douglas Carrothers
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina to James “Jim” and Elizabeth
Ellen Carrothers on February 13, 1962. He departed this life on October 15, 2020.
He graduated from Independence High School in 1980. Kevin was an athlete in high school,
where he played baseball and soccer. In 1984, Kevin graduated from North Carolina Agricultural
and Technical State University with dual degrees in Manufacturing and Industrial Technology.
He worked for Philip Morris in Concord, NC for 20 years and he also worked as a contractor for
Corning in Midland, NC, and Evergreen Paper Plant in Asheville, NC.
Kevin affectionately known as “KC” was loved and admired by his family and friends. He
enjoyed vacationing in Aruba with his wife, son, and daughter. KC was a man of many talents
and hobbies. He enjoyed music, fishing, photography, and model airplanes. He was a member of
the Academy of Model Aeronautics and Max Preps High School Sports photographer. Kevin
played several instruments which include the saxophone, bass, guitar, keyboard, and drums.
Over the years Kevin performed with several house bands including with the Carrothers
Brothers. Kevin always made an impression and never met a stranger. He enjoyed making
people laugh and given the opportunity, Kevin would talk your ear off.
Kevin is preceded in death by his father, James Carrothers. He leaves to cherish loving and fond
memories, his wife Karen D. Carrothers, son Karlton D. Carrothers, daughter Kiah D.
Carrothers, mother Elizabeth A. Carrothers, two brothers James L. Carrothers (Valerie), Stephen
H. Carrothers (Cheryl), and one sister Cassandra Shankle, nieces, nephews, and a host of
cousins. Kevin was loved by his mother-in-law Vicki DeBeary and held a strong bond with his
brother-in-law Maurice DeBeary (Crystal).
