Ms. Joyce Ann Phifer Edgeworth, daughter of Alice P. Smith and the late Robert Funderburk, was born August 28, 1954 in Midland, NC. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 18, 2016.

Joyce was a active and devoted member of Pneuma Life Center in Charlotte, NC. She worked for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for 28 years. She song with many groups and choirs throughout her life. She had a smile and personality that lit up a room. Outside of her smile and personality she was also known for her vibrant and long nails.  Joyce was a quiet and humble woman who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and church family.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her only brother Paul Smith.
Joyce leaves to cherish her fond memories: her mother, Alice P. Smith; five (5) daughters Sheila Phifer, Tushinda Cathcart (David), Taketa  Edgeworth-Davis (VaQuadis), Alezeia Agwa (Eric), Kimbely Edgeworth-Craig (Todd) all of Charlotte, NC; One (1)son David Phifer of Kannapolis, NC; Three (3) sisters Hazel Phifer of Charlotte, NC, Kathleen Patton (Robert)of Midland, NC, Pernice Means of Charlotte, NC; nine (9) granchildren, one (1) nephew, one (1) great-nephew, one (1)great-niece; two (2) best friends Ms. Louvenia Mack and Jacqueline Mattocks both of Charlotte, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
