CHARLOTTE -  John Alexander Weathers, Sr., 84, affectionately known to some as “Little John” or “Lee” passed away peacefully on January 14, 2017.

 John was one of six children born to Eddie and Louise Weathers in Mecklenburg County on August 17, 1932.

 In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three of his siblings. 
          John’s life will be forever cherished in the life of his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy L. Weathers; three children: Shirley B. Welch (Larry) of Charlotte; Karen Weathers Cathey of Herndon, Virginia; John A. Weathers, Jr. (Paula) of Marietta, Georgia;  six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He is also survived by one sister, Ella Reid and one brother James O’Neal Weathers, both of Charlotte and a host of other family members; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21 at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 South Tryon Street, Charlotte, N.C.  

The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte, N.C.
