Maria Gibbs

Maria was born in New York, NY on December 9, 1960 to Samuel and Molly Gibbs.  She was called home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2018, after a long illness.  Maria graduated from Julia Richmond H.S. in NYC, where she was in the Nursing Program.

She attended CP Community College in NC, where she studied Early Child Care Development, and went on to become a Child Care Administer and Children Advocate.  She loved children and everyone she came in contact with.  Maria loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior at an early age.  She was a strong outgoing leader who cherished her family and friends.  Her favorite quote was, “Mind your Mind”.

Maria is preceded in death by her father, Samuel Gibbs; her son, Tommy Gibbs; her brother, Randy Gibbs and long-time companion, Tommy Harris.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving mother, and step father, Molly & Lewis Walwyn; her three children, Nakia (Bobby); Tomreika (Jeremy), and Randy Gibbs, all of Charlotte, NC.  One brother Jerry Gibbs (Angela); two sisters, Clara Gibbs of Moncks Corner, SC; and Janie Gibbs of Charlotte, NC. Four grandchildren, Xavier; Olivia; Syasia, and Xaiden.  Three Aunts, Susie Reid of Austin, TX; Mary Washington, Eutawville, SC; Louise Burch, Bronx, NY., a very special cousin/sister, Angela Washington, of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
